This is What Motherhood Is All About

"The days are long but the years are short."

"The days are long but the years are short."

"The days are long but the years are short."

"The days are long but the years are short."

Sometimes you have to just say this to yourself several times in a row just to make it through the day!

Being a mom is hard. Really, really hard. And sometimes being an adoptive mom is an added layer of hard.

We have these questions floating around in our head like, 'Is this behavior from history I don't know about?' 'Are my children really going to see each other as siblings?' 'Did I mess up everyone's lives?' 'What emotional trauma will they have when they are older?' 'How will I even handle those situations?', 'Am I even a good mom at all?!'

And so on top of all the other standard mom issues, these bonus issues lay heavy on our hearts. Not to mention sometimes our friends and loved ones actually ask us these questions - out loud. And we think about and believe them even more!

But then there are those moments. And you see this little face. And all the tantrums, snot, poop diapers, sleepless nights, sibling fighting, piles of laundry and never ending doctor visits are just so worth it.

You see, God knew each and every child you would have. He knows each and every one of your fears. He knows that you’re tired, worn out and worry all the time. And that's why he made those moments with the cutest smiles, those head burying hugs and those beautiful, beautiful eyes.

Know that every day you make the biggest difference in your children's lives.

I love this verse so much in Isaiah 66:13 when God says, "As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem."

How awesome that God even writes to us mommas! Just as He has given us this commandment of loving and comforting our babies - He does the same for us!! He totally gets being a parent and the hardships that we go through. And He is with us every step of the way.

I hope you are encouraged today. Pour yourself a big cup coffee and hold on to the truth that God is our comfort.

xoxo
